SIMON

A native of Colombia, Simon Brand began his career as a determined young man of 17 when he directed a music video for a local rock band. After the release of their first video, Simon realized that this was the career for him indicated. Looking for a challenge, Simon moved to Miami in the late 80's to pursue his dream of directing.

In the U.S., he hastened to perfect his art directing music videos and commercials that show how his talent evolved with each project. Recognizing the need for a new perspective on the music video industry, Simon founded Kree8 Productions, a company that quickly grew to represent many directors and music videos worldwide.

Their creativity and determination gave him the opportunity to work with artists such as Jessica Simpson, Enrique Iglesias, Shakira, Ricky Martin, the legendary Celia Cruz, Juanes, Alejandro Sanz, Chayanne, Arjona, Thalia and Paulina Rubio. Simon quickly became popular in the UK after directing several music videos for artists such as Westlife, Steps and Gabrielle.

Simon was in Europe where he built his commercial reel star. His visionary music videos and commercials have earned him several honors, including an MTV Award, Clio, Telly, FIAP and two Grammy nominations for best video.

Simon is a versatile director, moving between the production of commercials and music videos with no problem. Simon has directed over 200 commercials, his clients include Pepsi, Verizon, AT & T, Nabisco, Johnson & Johnson, Coca Cola, Coors Light, BMW, the European telecommunications giant Antena 3 and Telefonica. But even with all this under his belt, Simon still had not reached its goal; to shoot more films.

In 2003 he moved to Los Angeles to make his first feature film. A stroke of luck that led to his first film, "Unknown" (Unknown), starring Jim Caviezel, Greg Kinnear, Barry Pepper, Joe Pantoliano, distributed by the Weinstein Company / IFC Films and movies GreeneStreet.

Simon is one of the most recognized and sought-after directors. His fame in Latin America grew by the award-winning film "Paradise Travel", a story about Simon from his roots. The characterization in Spanish is based on the bestselling book by the internationally famous author, Jorge Franco. Starring Aldemar Correa, Ana de la Reguera and John Leguizamo. The film was recognized by TIME magazine as one of the best Latino films of the past decade, compared with "City of God" and "Amores Perros." When it premiered in January of 2008, it became one of the two highest grossing films in the history of Colombia.

Simon is about to finish his next feature "Default", just a short initial Borders anthology called "The Umbrella", produced by Turner / TNT. He is also finishing a personal project, a documentary about the people of the town of Pasacaballos in Colombia, called "Encuere / Pasacaballos" which has been recognized to highlight the challenges and hopes of its population.

More recently, Variety magazine described Simon as "one of the 40 most influential people in Hollywood, in America." In 2012, he also received the Premio Lo Nuesto Univision for Best Video of the Year for "You Smell" by Wisin y Yandel.
